Belgium desires to deliver forensic experts to Ukraine: “Barbarians must be prosecuted”

Belgium is investigating the likelihood of sending forensic professionals to Ukraine to obtain proof of achievable Russian war crimes. Key Minister Alexander De Croo explained this in the margins of a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. In accordance to De Croo, this is “the initially move to assure that barbarians can be prosecuted”.

The governments of Belgium and the Netherlands reviewed in Ghent how they can cooperate far more closely in the industry of defence, among other things. All initiatives in this sense are taking place versus the qualifications of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. De Croo and Rutte concur that every little thing must be performed to avoid impunity.

The two countries as a result support the investigation of the Intercontinental Legal Courtroom and the Commission of Inquiry set up by the UN Human Legal rights Council, which enjoy a key function in gathering evidence. Belgium is investigating regardless of whether it can send forensic authorities, De Croo said.
